10 Reasons Why You Should Maintain a Normal Platelet Count Range

Maintaining a normal platelet count is very important. For those who don’t know what platelets are, in simple language, they are the kind of the blood cells which have the function to stop the bleeding. Platelets are also known as thrombocytes. Low platelet count can cause a disease called thrombocytopenia and when the platelet count is high, it can cause a disease called as thrombocytosis. Such disorders can be caused through various means. The following 10 reasons will tell you why maintaining a normal platelet count is necessary:
Þ     Pregnancy: In certain pregnancy cases, where the mother does not take proper care of herself, there can be problems with the platelet count. The mother has to make sure that she gets proper intake of a balanced diet so that all the nutrients, vitamins, proteins and everything are balanced. Missing out on even one can cause issues further. At times, the platelet count goes low and thus resulting in thrombocytopenia.
Þ     Blood which may have bacteria: Many a times, our blood may have various bacterial infections which can lead to the demolition of platelets. Major care needs to be taken when something like this is going on. You might as well have to go on high medications. Low or high platelet count is not good and hence taking care of it properly is very important.
Þ     Dengue: This is a very popular disease spread with the help of a mosquito caused by the dengue virus. This leads to low platelet count. The symptoms are high fever, joint and muscle pains, skin rash, headache and various such. In most of the cases, the patient needs to get admitted to the hospital to get treated.
Þ     Gray platelet syndrome (GPS): This is a disorder caused again because of disturbance in the blood platelets. Here the patient again has to be nicely taken care of. This is a deadly syndrome and hence you shouldn’t neglect your platelet count.
Þ     Asthma: Asthma is a disease which is caused only if it’s hereditary. The symptoms are airflow obstruction, chest tightness, coughing, shortness of breath and many such more. In most of the cases, if the asthma is at a high level, the patient has to take a pump to keep its breathing level normal. In such situations, the patient also needs to make sure that his /her platelet levels are on a safer stake. Asthma, if reaches severe levels, can also cause death.
Þ     Malaria: Malaria is as well-known disease spread by mosquitoes. It is a very infectious disease. It can cause your platelet levels to go down drastically. The symptoms are sort of similar to dengue. It can cause seizures, coma, yellow skin or death, but this is the case only in severe cases. The typical symptoms are fatigue, fever, headache and vomiting. The worst part about this disease is that the symptoms can only be seen after around 10 to 15 days once the mosquito has bitten you. Sometimes it may take months to heal the disease.
Þ     Aplastic Anemia: This is again a bone marrow disease which can cause the blood stem cells to be damaged. It is because of the deficiency, thus causing you blood platelets-related disease called as thrombocytopenia. It is caused usually in most of the teens and in the twenties but is also common amongst the elderly people. It can be due to the exposure of chemicals or infection or radiation or immune disease and mostly is hereditary. Mostly the cause is said to be unknown.
Þ     Babesiosis: This is another disease which is similar to malaria. It directly attacks our blood platelets and this can cause it to lower down or in growth of our platelets. Is mostly known as the Texas cattle Fever or red water.
Þ     Cancer/Chemotherapy: One usually goes under chemotherapy because he or she has been treated with cancer, or is in the on-going process. If the therapy is going well then there’s no issue. But if at all in any case if the therapy does not go well, it can cause in lower blood platelet count and thus thrombocytosis.
It is very important to have proper blood platelet count. There are various ways how you can increase your platelet count if it is low or get it in control. Usually to figure out if your platelet counts if low or high you have to go through various blood tests. Your blood sample is taken and it is put through different tests which then later on tells us if our blood platelet count is proper or not. If the count is low, the patient is suggested to have papaya leaf juice, kiwi, dragon fruit and such other fruits. You can make their juice and have it or have them wholly as fruits. And if your count is really high, you are asked to control the same. In many cases, the patients can also get the different platelet count due to various medications. You need to take care of what kind of medications are you taking.
Various people have many misconceptions that they need to know about. It is not possible to just judge from the face or body type if your platelet count is low or high. You have to go under various blood tests for sure. The ratio is supposed to be between 1:10 to 1:20 of red blood cells of a healthy adult. Blood platelets cannot be taken lightly. If there is any disturbance then you need to make sure that you get it treated right away. The imbalance is very dangerous. It can affect your body in various ways.

Good amount of precaution needs to be taken. Hence doctors suggest to go under proper health check up every once or 6 months a year. Proper intake of fruits, food and liquid is necessary. You cannot have your body to take things so lightly. If you go through a body check up, you can instantly know what’s wrong and you can have a treatment right away. Such things don’t take too long to be treated if it is properly treated.
